Mohamed Kamal is an environmental activist and public health engineer dedicated to driving sustainable change across Africa and the Arab region. With over eight years of experience, he specializes in environmental and waste management, the circular economy, plastic pollution, and climate policy. As a warm and collaborative leader, Mohamed serves as the Executive Director of the Greenish Foundation and the Co-founder of Afya Partners, channeling his deep expertise into scalable, community-driven environmental solutions.

Throughout his career, Mohamed has become a trusted voice in high-level global negotiations. He has represented civil society at COP27 through COP30 and participated in every round of the global plastic treaty negotiations (INC2–INC5.2), recently heading the Greenish delegation in Geneva to support African negotiators on implementation and finance. He also lends his leadership to the broader climate movement as the Secretary-General of the Climate Action Network Arab World (CANAW) and as a Board Member and Treasurer of the Palestinian Institute for Climate Strategy (PICS).

An accomplished researcher, Mohamed has published impactful work on Arab region NDC ambitions, energy sovereignty, and barriers to plastic waste formalization. He holds an MSc in Water, Sanitation and Health Engineering with Distinction from the University of Leeds.

Yara is an international development professional who has spent the last 20 years advancing social change, strengthening civil society, and empowering non-profit organizations across the MENA region. Known for her strategic mindset and warm, collaborative approach, she specializes in organizational development, program management, and transforming grant processes to better support social justice movements and civic spaces.

Over two decades, Yara has held pivotal roles with major international organizations, including the Ford Foundation’s MENA Office and New York headquarters, Save the Children, European Bilaterals, and the EU Delegation in Egypt. Her extensive background bridges localized community needs with high-level international funding strategy, ensuring that sustainable development initiatives achieve lasting, structural impact on the ground.

Deeply committed to equity and digital rights, Yara serves on the Board of Greenpeace MENA and the Expert Advisory Committee for the MENA Digital Rights Fund. She is also a Senior Atlantic Fellow for Social and Economic Equity (AFSEE), where her research focuses on how digital entrepreneurship intersects with and impacts social inequality.

Ahmed Yassin is a passionate climate advocate and green energy leader dedicated to solving the single-use plastic crisis and accelerating the transition away from fossil fuels. Bringing an innovative, community-first energy to his work, Ahmed specializes in mobilizing local industries, expanding the blue economy, and promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through impactful grassroots initiatives.

Ahmed's practical approach to sustainable infrastructure led him to establish SOLAREGY, a pioneering network that helps manufacturing plants in Alexandria adopt clean energy alternatives. His leadership has earned widespread recognition, including being named one of the Top 5 Green Voices on LinkedIn in Egypt, as well as selection for the prestigious U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program and the European Union Program for his civil society influence. He also serves as a solar ambassador for Solar City Co., the EU Jeel Connect Country Coordinator, and an ambassador for the EU4Water program.

Currently active as a marine plastic researcher and Blue Economy expert for EU Neighbours South, Ahmed further drives collective regional action through the Green Alliance, a network he launched to empower green NGOs across Alexandria. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering from Alexandria University and is a member of Chatham House in London, UK.

Marwan Rasmy is a Cairo-based sustainable development consultant working at the vital intersection of the circular economy, environmental assessments, and community-engaged programming. Driven by a passion for making sustainability work practically at the local level, Marwan brings a wealth of hands-on experience in helping green economy startups and development initiatives thrive throughout Egypt and the wider Arab region.

Marwan’s background blends financial sustainability with environmental impact. He spent nearly a year as the fundraising manager for Precious Plastic, where he built the financial infrastructure for the network and supported recycling entrepreneurs with business model development. Today, he channels those insights into his circular economy advisory work through Afya Partners, where he conducts environmental and stakeholder assessments under leading international development programs.

Over the course of his career, Marwan has collaborated with prominent international organizations, including UNESCO, Hivos, Climate Outreach UK, and Colleges and Institutes Canada. He holds an MSc in Energy Engineering for Development from Politecnico di Milano.

Alaaedeen Tawfik is a Strategic Communications and Brand Manager with more than a decade of experience leading high-impact branding and marketing initiatives across the sustainability, private, and development sectors. Fascinated by the intersection of communication, technology, and social impact, Alaaedeen specializes in crafting integrated communication strategies that pair creative storytelling with measurable, long-term growth for purpose-driven organizations.

An expert in managing multidisciplinary teams, Alaaedeen has spearheaded regional and national campaigns for organizations such as the Greenish Foundation, ACT Sustainable, IOM Egypt, and Black Forest. His strategic approach to digital marketing and content development has generated over 22 million impressions and 9 million video views, vastly expanding the public reach of vital sustainability programs.

As the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of AT2, Alaaedeen helps organizations strengthen their market presence through performance-driven marketing, digital experiences, and sharp brand strategies. He remains dedicated to enabling teams to grow their audience and influence while delivering meaningful, positive value to society.

Hajar Al-Beltaji is an interdisciplinary researcher, trainer, and project manager dedicated to advancing climate justice and shaping progressive climate policy. With a passion for building local capacity, she specializes in driving community-centered sustainable development initiatives and environmental advocacy across Egypt. 

Throughout her career, Hajar has established herself as a versatile leader capable of translating complex policy frameworks into practical, on-the-ground impact. Her diverse expertise spans managing multi-stakeholder projects, delivering specialized climate training, and conducting vital socio-environmental research. Committed to empowering organizations and local communities alike, she focuses on bridging the gap between high-level environmental strategy and grassroots action. 

Hajar works as a collaborative consulting partner with Eco-Dahab, where she lends her deep expertise to environmental projects and capacity-building initiatives. She is based in Heliopolis, Cairo.
